a long slow bike ride

By Alice on Monday March 30th 2009 at 20:17

Jemima decided to hate my bike on Friday and thought it might be her worst enemy - we set off to meet the blacksmith and she was having none of it. When we did get to the yard (eventually) she wasn’t sure quite what to make of twitch (but he definately wasn’t half as scary as my bike - that was for sure)!

We met 3 nice horses on our way home (which was a little speedier!)...

aloe vera

By Alice on Friday March 20th 2009 at 14:50

Four vegetables are indispensable for the well being of man: wheat, the grape, the olive and the aloe. The first nourishes him, the second raise his spirits, the third brings him harmony and the fourth cures him - - Christopher Columbus.

... Last night we attended a talk about aloe at aimee and steve’s house - it was really good fun - and there are lots of great products available from the company forever living. We had a few wines and I think the aloe samples we got to try transported the alcohol to my brain very extremely quickly! I had a great night, liked the talk and the products and will be ordering some soon!

Can’t believe it’s nearly the weekend - it’s been so nice having the sunshine back in town! I have had a busy week working on new designs for Alice Palace, freelance design work and wedding designs as well. I’ve even managed to learn a little German while doing this wedding invite for Kristin & John…

This one for Erin & Mike has a secret garden theme…

Alice in wonderland…

By Alice on Wednesday March 04th 2009 at 16:34

Heston Blumenthal’s Feast is most mental cookery programme you’ll ever see! The first in the four-part series was on last night - and it was brilliant in recreating the Mad Hatter’s tea party from Alice in Wonderland. Alice’s “Drink Me” potion was bright pink and served in a test tube, grubs were injected with tomato concentrate and sat in an entirely edible garden, and an edible pocket watch made from stock was also created (my best bit).

Heston Blumenthal is known for his mind-bending menus where food and science combine with delicious consequences: “I want to create meals that are a delicious spectacle, where every bite is a delight to the senses.”

Make sure you watch the next one!
