A Spring Fair to remember!

By Alice on Friday 6th February 2009

Well… Spring Fair was definately eventful this year. On the good side, I met with exisiting customers and found some nice new shops too, had lots of lovely helpers, some very nice neighbours, ate lots of food and managed to enjoy the snow… On the bad side, we had our car stolen on Monday morning, my mobile broke, and Mark cut his head on the bathroom wall in an attempt to get some soap!

On Sunday I had Katie helping me…and we had sandwiches for lunch - mine was crayfish & rocket. I also got to meet one of my agents called John McMillan for the first time - and he’s lovely.

And when I got home Mark had made a yummy alternative roast dinner (utlising our mortar & pestle for the very first time).

I got up bright & early (for me) on Monday morning, ready for the slidey roads on the way to the NEC, only to find that the car was no longer where I had parked it - and had in fact been stolen. After a few phone calls to the police, Mark drove me into the show in the van and then he was late for work. What a total nightmare!

I then broke my mobile and had no way of contacting anyone all day - and Wendy from next door on the Intoto stand came to my rescue, looking up Mark’s work number for me. Then Uncle Bob arrived and I was able to use his phone and he luckily, gave me a lift home and then stayed for dinner with us.

This was the view from the doors opposite me - it was nice being able to see out…

I had a baked potato with beans & cheese for my very late lunch.
It took me and Uncle Bob a while to find his car - as all the cars looked very similar covered in snow!

Here he is all balanced carrying 2 bags, trying to find the car!

Luckily Allie didn’t mind driving in on Tuesday and then she also stayed for dinner in the evening.

We mostly laughed all day as some very funny things happened. We had panini’s for lunch and played paper, scissors, stone (the game that relies on quick fire hand gestures, where stone beats scissors, scissors beat paper, and paper beats stone) for which drink we’d get.

On Wednsday, Charlie very kindly gave me a lift in ... and we had chilli and cheese baked potaoes.

Liz and Mum visited in the afternoon…and we got to have a good look around the rest of hall 3. My absolute favourite is a company called Polite - I LOVE their cards! = http://www.politecards.com

Just look at these clones!

On Thursday Mark had the day off to help me, and we went in the van - after a nice early morning walk in the snow with Jemima…

Sprout was a bit snowy!

Mark was a great help - and he got an order high!

image

We had a foot long itailian subway for lunch - nice!

image

The show finished at 4pm on the last day and there’s always lots of people waiting to be let in the help get stands down….

image

There’s then some kind of taking-the-stands-down-frenzy….

image

While we were at the show, Jemima was having a great time!

We managed to get away in record time and saw some tiny new born lambs in the snowy fields on our way home, which made me feel all cold! We had dinner at Mark’s parents and felt very sleepy, then drank a nice bottle of wine and watched high altitude.

This morning, I woke up a bit bleery eyed and the snow was still falling…

...and we found 3 new friends that had arrived in our front garden!
