a weekend of fun
On Saturday I went off to Oxford with Claire and Laura for Lucy’s hen do. We met at the Galaxie Hotel on Banbury Road - which is gorgeous with a really nice courtyard garden and some HUGE fish. We met up with all the other girls and set off on a walk to where we were going to be punting - on route we saw Jeremy Clarkson who was at a school fate and went into a portaloo! We had lunch and pimms, and watched all the fellow punters making their way down the river.
Then it was our turn - and it was great fun - although all we really managed to do was go in circles. Don’t think I was great at the steering job I’d been given, but Claire became co-pilot and helped me with my left and right issues and we got a little better. I’d definately do it again - and would have a go at the standing up with the big pole bit next time. The sign above says that punt racing is not permitted - don’t think there was any chance of that!!
This is a group of pirates that like throwing strawberries…
After the punting we went to a pub for gin and tonics and then got changed for the evening.
This is us in the hotel before we went out for an evening meal at Browns.
We had some yummy cocktails - I had a very berry mahita which was great - quite fancy another!!
And then we had a 3 course meal and felt very full and then we headed back home.
Sunday = raining, raining, raining and I went off to see Katie in Bewdley with Ellen and Jemima. We went on a rambling adventure where we encountered yummy italian sandwiches, thunder, lightening, rain, sunshine, lots of mud, a fall over, pretty purple flowers, pretty cows, a huge black dog, lots of fishermen, pints of shandy and a very friendly robin ...it was great.
Piccolo’s coffee house in Load Street (Bewdley) offers a range of coffees and infusions in a relaxed atmosphere ...and their sandwiches are really nice and HUGE and only very cheap. I’d like to go again and eat in!
Just look at the sky! This was just before the thunder & lightening - and then the HUGE rain!
This is the bridge just before the pub - yey - nearly there!
And this is to prove that we did have sunshine - on our way back home…
Here are mine and Katie’s muddy feet - it really was very muddy - just like Matt had said!! (I nearly fell over about 57 times as my crocs seemed to turn into ice skates - and it was a little tiresome towards the end!!)
When we got back, we had a very yummy dinner and katie made a brilliant brownie cake to celebrate my birthday - I ate way too much and wanted to pop (but could have eaten it all, had my life depended upon it!).
