our honeymoooooooooooooooooooon!

By Alice on Friday 29th August 2008

The first two nights of our honeymoon were spent in a hotel by lake Windermere - The Beech Hill Hotel.
We had our own little beach that no one else seemed to use - and jemima LOVED it!

Here she is swimming in Lake Windermere - -

and this is her wide footed walk down the wobbly jetty (really funny!)!!

We got a BIG surprise when we opened the menu on our first night
- as they’d personalised it for Mr and Mrs Boston!
(although Mark didn’t actually notice until I pointed it out to him!!)

The following day (tuesday), we went for a brilliant woodland walk (the walk of a thousand lovers) and got completely lost.

Some clover for Matt!

and we played jenga in the evening - and mark won!

On Wednesday we left the hotel and popped into town to get our camping food supplies - and had an hour to get a rowing boat around an island (called Belle Isle) on lake Windermere.

Jemima liked it - but she had to keep biting at the water when the boat was moving -

We travelled towards Seathwaite to a campsite called Turner Hill Farm.

And had a few stop offs on the way

I love these sheep - they’re so laid back!

This is the campsite - which was BRILLIANT (in fact I’ve never been to a nicer campsite!)!

And we walked to the top of the mountain that evening and got delirious by the end!
(can you see the face?)

The next day (thursday) we went to the Cumbrian Heavy Horse yard and it rained all the way there and then the sun came out as we set off on the horses!

This is Mark on Major - -

We went out for 2 hours and our guide called Robin was great. We got completely covered in mud and LOVED every second of it! The horses were AMAZING…

My horse was called Eddie and he’s a shire. Major’s a Clydesdale - and not just any Clydesdale - but one of the fastest! He won the Marymass Open Clydesdale Race at Irvine this year!

This is the view from the reservoir that we rode to - you can see the sea in the distance.

This is one of their new foals called Skye.

We visited the seaside after our horse ride and had an icecream and a cuppa soup in our bride and groom mugs.

We went back to the campsite as we loved it so much and played the game of life and drank beer -

And then on Friday we set off in a homeward direction and had a brilliant drive apart from when Jane (the sat nav) directed us down ‘Strugglers pass’ and our brakes burnt out and Mark had to do a ‘save us’ maneuver into a nearby track.

Can you see the upside down fish?

We decided to camp wild on the last night (a matt invention), and settled at the bottom of LIttle Mell Fell - which we climbed - these 2 sheep were guarding the top!

We climbed Little Mell Fell again in the evening and set off another wish balloon.

On the last day we set off for home after some breakfast

What a FUN honeymoon! Apart from Mark’s small obsession with red letter boxes!
