seeds and plants

By Alice on Monday 10th March 2008

Yesterday I went to Woolworths and got lots of seeds = mixed native wildflower, sweet pea, cornflower and poppy and 2 x plants as well…I got Rosa rugosa alba for the front garden which will flower in July.

...and a tayberry fruit bush for our patio (when we have one!). It says that the tayberries are perfect with yoghurts or ice cream and you can harvest them in June and July - - very excited, but it’s only about 3cm tall at the moment!

Talking of gardens I’d like to go to the Villa d’Este garden .... One of Italy’s most admired gardens, the Villa d’Este is a sixteenth-century pleasure palace with a sequence of fantastic fountains and water features in its shady grounds.

It was on ‘Around the world in 80 gardens’ on TV last night - In this stunning series, Monty Don sets off on an enchanting journey to visit 80 of the world’s most celebrated gardens, from ancient to modern, large to small, and grand to humble. There’s one more in the series where Monty goes to South Africa.
