By Alice on Tuesday 14th October 2008

Alison and Punit visited us from London this weekend and amongst other things, helped us with operation wardrobe!!

We had an autumn bbq in the evening using the brand new hand built bbq - and it was great!

We had some snackettes before hand - including these breadsticks which I purchased because I liked the design soooo much!

The next day we went for a walk up Bredon Hill - and Allie came along too.

On the way down the hill we noticed that there were lots of ladybirds about and some had landed somewhere on each of us. They didn’t look like normal ladybirds: Mark investigeted further!! The harlequin ladybird (Harmonia axyridis), comes from Asia, was first introduced to Europe to control the spread of aphids on crops. However, it rapidly spread, and arrived in Britain in 2004. The species is an extremely voracious predator that outcompetes the UK’s native species and even feeds on them. Peter Brown, from the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology who co-ordinates the Harlequin Ladybird Survey, said: “Our surveys have shown that harlequin ladybirds are spreading extremely quickly and are causing a lot of damage to our native species.”

We didn’t get any photos of them!

We went over to Liz and Charlie’s in the van and cycled back and saw some lovely teasels - -

On Monday I took Mark into work - the joys of having one car! Jemima joined us and we went for a walk on the way home. I then worked on my website’s wedding stationery page and then walked Homer. After that myself and Albert and Jemima went horse riding with Susan and Bean - and then I went to investigate new possibilities in the futon world as our spare room bed is so very uncomfortable!!

I had a look at the cards in Paperchase too and purchased a few greetings cards:
The 2 designs below are both designed at Black Olive for Paperchase.

The thankyou card on the left below is an Urban Scrawl design and on the right is a design from Beaumonde.

Show Director, Neil Gaisford says: ‘Top Drawer Autumn was a great sucess and delivered a selective show with only the best, hand-picked high quality companies and products. The show had an exciting and vibrant atmosphere and looked fantastic, proving it was the place to be to discover stunning new prooducts. Despite today’s economic challenges, key buyers were out in full force and footfall was strong.’

There is also a mention of Me and Mark getting married in Progressive Greetings magazine - -
