they call it mellow yellow

By Alice on Tuesday 18th November 2008

We went to Mum and Tony’s for dinner on Sunday evening and got a present from their Eden Project visit…some Cornish line-caught mackerel - yum!
I like the packaging - but I haven’t actually tried them yet…

This is nice beer packaging too - Brahma beer - Cerveja do Brasil…

And here’s another Jordan’s cereal packaging - nice squirrel!
Did you know: A squirrel can fall more than one hundred feet without hurting itself.
...And my favourite fact: Squirrels, like many small mammals, see in black and white. But recently squirrels surprised the scientific community when it was discovered that they dream in colour! Love it!

We also got the barnd new futon into position - it looks so great!

Monday was a day of finishing off new designs for 2009 and I also did some work on wedding stationery.

‘My fiancee and I were looking online for wedding stationary and came across your site. Your work caught our eye and made us smile. We like the one you did for the couple of the two birds with the waves, but with a few changes. The changes would be green/silver theme, a mountain peak/s and a different island outline. We would need 60 day invitations, 60 thank you cards and 70 place cards only and possibly a large canvas of the design later. We are on a budget and a tight time frame (4 weeks max for invites, others in February, 09) though so would like to know an estimate of the cost and timings before we go any further so we don’t waste your time. Look forward to hearing from you.’

‘That is amazing. We both love it, hurrah!’

They also had table names

‘The table cards are perfect.’

and placecards - this is the front…

And this is the back of their postcard thankyou…

I have also been working with another couple on their wedding stationery which has been really good fun…

‘I was wondering whether you would be available to work with us on some invites to our very un-traditional and low key civil marriage ceremony and party which we’re holding next May 2009? Our venue for this is an art gallery/restaurant in south east London near the river - no tradition involved at any stage other than an old converted warehouse where we’ve having our celebration with approx 70 friends and family. I really like your website and the testamonials are impressive. I have to admit, I’m probably a bit more minimalist/retro in my approach than some of your other more traditional wedding invites, but I was wondering whether you’d be interested in theory, then maybe we could have the conversation about practicalities and our brief?
Let me know, look forward to hearing back from you via email.’

They wanted an invite with an illustration of the London skyline including the Houses of Parliament/Big Ben, London Eye, Tate Modern, Gerkhin, St Pauls, Tower Bridge and their Jam Factory home - as well as the river Thames which is very dear to their hearts and keeps them sane in London. This is the front of the invite - - it is also printed on the inside and has a double sided insert with all the extra info on as well.

‘Amazed to see you’d worked so fast! We really like it, the perspective you’ve put on it is great.’

This is one of the sides of the insert…

Yesterday I went for a walk just before dark and got some pudding for dinner at Piff’s on my way home (apple and blackcurrant pies and custard!)...

Some amazing moss…

We had lasagne, garlic bread, salad and lots of chats at Piff’s for dinner. Becky picked me up at 6:30pm and I didn’t get home till nearly midnight - feeling tired today! Piff has a great cat that’s a kind of peachy orange colour with black stripes - like a cute soft tiny looking tiger that follows you everywhere!

I’m going to make this chocolate fridge cake on Friday!
