these legs were made for walking…

By Alice on Thursday 6th November 2008

Well - I now know what it’s like to hit the wall - we climbed a mountain in Wales on Monday (I had a small holiday!) and my legs did NOT want to work at all!

On Sunday we went for a ‘practice’ walk with Liz and Charlie, Mum and Tony and Becky and it was particuarly muddy! It was a walk around the area of Paxford (where I used to ride racehorses) and it was lovely - but incredibly muddy!!

Tony had a bit of horse-fright!

...While Mum and Becky were trying hard to hide their fear!

We got home and watched the Brazilian Grand Prix and ordered lots of Indian takeaway! The next day we got up early for a pre-planned full English breakfast at Weatherspoons as our fuel for the mountain. Then we set off for the Brecon Beacons.

The walk started at Cwm Gedi Car Park (where the cold began!) and then continued very steeply uphill forever (I reached the wall quite near the top)!! Until eventually (through, snow, EXTREMELY stong winds and fog) we made it to the summit of Corn Du - yey!! We then tried to make it to Pen y Fan (the highest peak in South Wales) but we couldn’t see a thing and had to turn back.

About fifteen minutes in the fog started to chase us!

And it was very windy!

Jermima had a GREAT time!!

We made it!!!

....it was tricky to see one another - let alone the edge!

it was such a funny walk and we all get delieriously silly after an age of being out in the elements!!
