Folktale week illustrations and story
By Alice on
I joined in with the folktale week challenge for the first time - it's an annual, week-long art challenge held in mid-November. The idea is to write your own story based on their prompts of NIGHT, ECHO, RAIN, BOOK, CHARM, STORM and DAWN.
I started with a raven character I'd already created, and his story developed through the week...
'In the heart of the deepest wood, in the dead of night, a wise old raven watched from his perch on a gnarled oak.'
The quietness of the night echoed with memories.
He flew through the rain, his thoughts consumed by what once was.
He entered a painful chapter marked by deep grief.
A powerful charm protected him from the encroaching gloom.
...and helped him say goodbye, amid the storm of emotions and the painful end of his dreams for what could be.
As dawn arrived, he understood his grief was too heavy to carry in solitude, and he found strength in the knowledge that the horse's memory would carry him forward, leaving a hoof print on his heart.
