a greeting card design for the year of the rat
It was the Chinese new year on the 25th January and this is the year of the metal rat, a strong, financially prosperous time for those who plan carefully. I was asked to design a greeting card for a company to send to their colleagues in Taiwan.
The brief was to include red and gold colours and to be quite traditional with lanterns, a rat, and Chinese writing of new year - with red envelopes.
It was fun to draw the Chinese writing for happy new year, which I added above the rat so he could look up at it.
and to make the rat happy and joyful I created him with flowers, hearts, stars, and the word joy - because the year of the rat is full of optimism.
