wonderful things

wonderful thing no 1.

well, last night I went along to Giffords Circus at Frampton on Severn - and it was absolutely AMAZING. It’s a bit like when I got back from Orkney and wanted/actually thought I’d become a farmer - I now want to/think I am actually going to run away and be a part of the circus. Totally brilliant - some of the best bits for me were the goose (called Brian!!) who waddled his way around the stage following a cart horse which was in turn followed by a man and a boy (that really tickled me!), then there was this scary bear which at first you had a split second of thinking surely that cannot be real - then it obviously wasn’t - and then it did a very amusing dance, there was a hawk that flew right over my head - and the music throughout was incredible.

If there’s one fun thing to do this summer it’s to go along to Giffords Circus - it runs until Sunday 14th September - get your tickets QUICK!

Another wonderful thing is that my first hollyhock flower appeared this morning - yey - and it’s pink, not white… say hello!

There are lots of other wonderful garden related things…. this little rose plant for example, that i saved - and now it’s flowering all nicely to say thanks!

And these flowers have sneaked their way through from next door!

The honeysuckle smells gorgeous…

There are lots of beautful flowers appearing all over…

and we have lots of fruit - the strawberries have gone wild - -

And the apples are growing too big for their branches…

AND….what an AMAZING patio!!!!!!!

wonderful thing no 3.

Now… this is one of the best books I have read in a long time (You’re a bad man Mr Gum! by Andy Stanton and illustrated by David Tazzyman). I finished it this morning - and there are apparently 3 more in the series - I CANNOT wait to read them. Not only is the story hilariously funny and very easy reading with completely brilliant characters, but the illustrations are AMAZING too.

CREATIVITY / INSPIRATION…

Creativity is total freedom. It is unfettered imagination and endless wonder in the world. It is our natural curiosity, driven by boundless optimism. Above all it is the simple pleasure of opening your mind up to the possiblility of play - be it with an idea, a tradition or a place. Everyone is creative if they free themsleves from self-censorship. We need to rediscover the confidence that we have as children to see the world through our own eyes, without the grey filter of social expectations or personal doubt. People are so quick to discard ideas they think are silly or daft. They are the best ones, let them out. And the best way to sustain creative thinking is through play - finding wonder in the seemingly mundane.

Creativity is a God-given state of mind. It is a very precious gift. It comes from a curiosity and openness to all things - whether they be between the pages of a book, a moment in a movie or play or a piece of musicthat transports you to another place. It’s like seeing pictures in the clouds or listening to the wind ruffling through the autumn trees. It is being in touch with your inner self, letting your intuition take you to places where you look beyond the obvious. It is being sympathetic to those around you, liveing in the here and now. And above all, it is an enthusiasm for life.
